The Sunshine Project

“According to a recent study published in the journal Experimental Psychology, researchers found smiling — even a fake smile — can have positive impact on mood. Essentially, triggering certain facial muscles by smiling can “trick” your brain into thinking you’re happy.” Aug 21, 2020

I had heard this idea so long ago, and thought about it often when I was in a bad mood. “If I just form a smile, it’s gonna help.” Sometimes I would do it, and sometimes I just WOULD NOT.

There are so many simple things we can do to bring a little sunshine into our own lives, but sometimes we JUST WON’T DO IT. Why? I don’t know. Emotions are complicated, or we complicate them, and yet with some simple habits, we can find our way back to the light when our world seems so dark around us. It probably won’t make everything better all at once, but taking a step towards the light is something.

This “Sunshine Project” is designed to challenge you do simple things while paying attention to how you feel afterwards. There may be a spark of light that comes that you were looking for :)

Enjoy!

Happy sunshine hunting!
